Inclusion Training for Trainers (Latvia)

Training Course

16-21 May 2022 | Jurmala, Latvia

A course for trainers in the youth (work) sector who want to make their activities more inclusive for diverse target groups (adapt to individual needs) + address topics of Inclusion & Diversity effectively in their activities (create an I&D mindset).

Aims & objectives

  • Make trainers (from the youth work sector) aware of exclusion factors that keep some participant profiles from participating in training activities.
  • Develop and exchange about approaches to make training activities more inclusive for diverse target groups (not only disability, but also other target groups): prerequisites, settings, considerations,... (venue, communication, team building, pace, breaks, group sizes...)
  • Learn and share methods to tackle ‘inclusion and diversity issues’ in training courses in an effective way (stimulate participants to be more inclusion/diversity minded, giving them tools).

Content & methodology

  • We will be using interactive non-formal learning methods: be ready to get active and try out things.
  • We will start from your training experience as a resource: bring your successes and failures to work with.
  • We will connect to the local context: how Latvian organisations tackle I&D.
  • We foresee online follow-up sessions (colleague support groups) to check what happened since the course and discuss any I&D experiences.

COVID 19 measures

The course will be organised according to the COVID 19 regulations at the time of the course to offer a safe environment (this could include self-testing). To travel to Latvia, you need a valid vaccination certificate attesting that you have been vaccinated (with an EU-approved vaccine) and not more than 270 days have passed since the last dose of the vaccine. By applying, you are ok to follow these measures.

Lodging will in single rooms because of COVID 19 regulations.

Inclusion

  • We encourage trainers from all backgrounds to apply.
  • We will discuss with you any individual needs to make the participation of diverse participants possible (food needs, personal assistant, etc).
  • The venue of the course is wheelchair accessible.
  • Unfortunately, there is carpet in the hotel (in case of allergies).

Neighbouring regions - earlier application

We welcome applications from trainers from neighbouring regions - because of visa process, we ask trainers from South-East Europe, Eastern-Europea & Caucasus and EuroMed to apply by 1 April midnight (CET).
