An Eye on Employability & Entrepreneurship

Seminar

15-16 December 2022 | ONLINE, Portugal

This online seminar aims to explore the concept of employability and entrepreneurship, connected tools and methodologies and its potential towards young people within the frame of European Solidarity Corps (ESC).

Context:

Employability and entrepreneurship are -besides others- important key words in the youth field. Concepts which go far beyond the simple understanding of ‘being employed’. A holistic view and approach bring these aspects very lively and interacting in the daily life of each one.

The past years have created many volunteering opportunities for many young people. Previously under the known ‘European Voluntary Service’ (aka EVS) and lately within the European Solidarity Corps Programme. These volunteering projects support the development of the employability competence of young people in general, and stimulates a more active entrepreneurial attitude and action.

To support the young people in the further development of these competences, also after their volunteering experience, this seminar explores concrete educational tools. Based upon non-formal educational principles, the learning is tailored to individual learning needs and wishes.

Specific objectives of this seminar:

  • Understanding  12 different dimensions of the concept of employability;
  • Exploring, explaining and exchanging different – efficient - educational tools – Emplay;
  • Exploring how these tools can be implemented in your own reality and on the frame of European Solidarity Corps Programme;
  • Sharing inspiring practices and approaches;
  • Networking between the participants and representative organisations.

Target group:

The activity addresses organisations (Youth workers, Trainers, Youth leaders, Project managers, volunteering mentors, youth coaches) working with young people and volunteer programmes. With a clear interest in inserting more clearly the employability dimension in their youth work and finding new ways to respond to the changing needs and realities of young people. In particular: to have access and understand how to use efficient educational tools in this aspect.

This activity will be implemented in two afternoons (15th and 16th december) and the programme of activities consists of expert inputs, discussions, presentations, practical work.
