Study visit on Youth Civic Engagement

Study Visit

8-12 April 2024 | Yerevan, Armenia

The study visit brings youth workers and organizations together to explore and share ideas about youth civic engagement. The goal is to better understand quality youth civic participation to empower young people for active citizenship.

Youth civic engagement is crucial because it not only fosters a sense of community but also equips young individuals with the skills to tackle challenges. Youth work plays a crucial role in engaging young people in their communities, fostering responsibility and social awareness. Ultimately, youth civic engagement, supported by youth work, is vital for building a socially aware and active community, contributing to the progress of society.

Participants will visit local organizations in Yerevan and surrounding areas involved in youth activities, such as Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps, and other initiatives. They'll have a chance to explore practices and exchange ideas on the topic of youth civic engagement. Together, we will discuss how youth work and European Youth Programmes can support young people's civic engagement. Furthermore, the study visit is a great opportunity to brainstorm new ideas and plan for future partnerships between Partner and Programme countries.

Learning objectives of the study vist are:

  • To exchange strategies, methods and resources on the topic of youth civic engagement.
  • To make youth participation an integral part of your work.
  • To explore different realities and provide opportunities for cooperation and networking.

Profiles of participants:

  • Youth workers and representatives of NGOs and organizations work directly with young people on a regular basis. This includes youth workers, youth leaders, coaches, project managers, social and health workers, employment officers, or representatives of municipalities, etc.
  • Ready to share and exchange their own experiences.
  • The study visit will bring together 24 participants from Programme and Partner countries interested in the topic.

The local organisations involved (subject to change):

  • Armenian Progressive Youth is a youth organization aiming to support, inspire, and engage young people in developing their social leadership skills, taking civic responsibility, and acting as change-makers.
  • Youth Initiative Center, rooted in equality and equity principles, welcomes all young people in Armenia and provides language clubs, workshops, exchange programs, camps, training courses, study visits, internships, research studies, and advocacy campaigns for adolescents and youth.
  • Project Harmony International’s mission is to build strong global communities by fostering civic engagement, cross-cultural learning, and increased opportunities in the digital age.
  • KASA Foundation is dedicated to respectfully supporting the most disadvantaged Armenians, following the motto of teaching them to fish rather than simply offering a fish.
