Democracy Reloading Webinars on youth participation in municipal decisions in 2024

Do you want to know better how to involve young people in municipal decision-making? Are you working as municipal youth policy officer or youth worker supporting municipal youth participation?

The Democracy Reloading Partnership is organising four webinars in 2024. Each webinar is focusing on one of the 4 key tasks that ensure a more successful implementation of youth participation in municipal decision-making, you can read further details about the four focus topics below.

Each webinar will be 90 minutes long and will include a presentation of practice of a local municipal youth policy officer and an introduction to one of the key tasks to be implemented for better success based on the Democracy Reloading online Toolkit.

You can register for the webinars if you click on APPLY NOW. Aftrer each webinar the call and its application form will reopened with a new deadline until the following webinar, allowing the registration of new participants for the upcoming webinars.

Few days before the each webinar all the registered participants (from the eligible countries) will receive a reminder with the zoomlink.

THE SPECIFIC TOPICS AND DATES:

1. ADVOCATE4YouthParticipation - on how to convince your decision-makers and how to change the organisational attitude inside the municipal authority

8th May 2024 at 14.30-16.00  CET

Focus questions of this webinar: What are the benefits of engaging young people in municipal decisions? What can you do to change the attitude of the different key people within the municipal authority? How to build up your stakeholder group in support of youth participation? What are the initial questions that the municipal authorty must answer before reaching out to young people?

Invited guest: Ole Martin Kyllo, Counsellor, Coordinator of the Youth City Council and Council for Persons with Disabilities in the Democracy Unit of the municipality of Kristiansand, Norway.

2. The (HE)ART of Participation - on how to find, empower and engage young people in municipal decisions

19th June at 14.30-16.00 CET

Focus questions of this webinar: Where to find the right young people to be involved? How to ensure representativity and inclusion of less privileged youth? How to empower young people to be able to give their voice and influence municipal decisions? How to motivate them and keep them engaged? How to support them in their further carrier?

3. What strategy and what structure? - on how to design adequate youth participation strategy and structure for municipal youth participation

25th September 2024 at 14.30-16.00 CET

Focus question of this webinar: How to build and optimize youth participation strategy that ensure sustainable and meaningful youth participation in municipal decisions? How to prepare an efficient strategy that is shared by all stakeholders? How to design the youth participation structure that fits both for municipal decision makers and the young people involved?

4. Be the change you want to see! - on how to manage youth participation in municipal decision-making every day

6th November 2024 at 14.30-16.00 CET

Focus topics of this webinar: What are the minimum financial conditions your municiplality has to provide each year? How can you use Erasmus+ grants to develop your youth participation? How can you manage the coolaboration between municipal decision makers and young people? How and what can you show to the wider public about youth participation?

We can provide a proof of attendence for each webinar and we will provide a  Democracy Reloading Webinars certificate for those who attended all 4 webinars in the end of the year.

Democracy Reloading Partnership is a long-term cooperation project of 20 Erasmus+ Youth national agencies that started in 2015, with the aim to contribute to the development of youth participation in democratic decision-making at local and regional level across Europe. Based on the lessons learned of the first 5 years and a research study an online Tolkit was desigend in 2020 to support local municipal youth policy officers to plan, implement, imrove and evaluate youth participation in municipal decisions. The Partnership runs until 2027 and includes the continuous improvement of the Toolkit, organising training courses, webinars and conferences in the  topic.
