An intensive and residential training for young people and youth workers interested to update their educational work with a new not formal education method to promote active citizenship and participation.

An intensive and residential training course of Ludopedagogy (6 days including arrival and departure) which aims to facilitate a first step to experience Ludopedagogy as a strategy to promote participation, active citizenship, integration. Ludopedagogy is a not formal education method based on playing, for adult and young people; a tool able to recognize the value of emotions, body, affectivity, meet other ideas and people, relation, in the process of building knowledge and finding innovative solutions to change the unequal reality and challenge social problems. The method opens the possibilities to try and develop, in the protected space of the playing, different and unusual solutions to social issues, in order to apply them both at the personal level and professional context. Since the arrival participants will be encouraged to play and, by doing, they will have the possibility to explore the power and amazing possibilities of the method. The training course will have sessions in the morning, the afternoon and the evening. Moreover, since the first evening, participants will have the possibility to cooperate, in small groups, to experience the beauty and inspiration raising from taking care as well of the logistic aspects, helping staff people in preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner, cleaning common spaces and proposing ideas for the free time "exploiting" the location possibilities. Our experience of participant cooperation in the logistic management is very positive and useful in terms of promoting cooperation, friendship and respect for the others and the environment. This cooperation as well can be the opportunity to tray to take care as well of the aesthetic aspects of promoting participation and valorise different cultures and will be an interesting part of the training course. The training course will have as well a open session intended to "experiment" the training results with external people (that is people not participating at the training course) and there will be sessions dedicated to evaluate the training and all aspects related. At the end of the School participants will be given a participation certificate. Main language will be the play, so are very welcome participants not speaking Italian. Trainers are very fluent as well in English, French, Spanish. By using an innovative tool (play for adults and young people, not only for children!), the Summer School of Ludopedagogy aims to address some of the hottest issues on a European level (such as youth participation, problems concerning the integration of migrant communities and people, gender-based violence, institutional distrust, apathy towards active citizenship), with particular emphasis on the problems of racism, social exclusion and discrimination that is now affecting the whole of the Italian and European society. The school aims at promoting the exchange of good practices, cooperation and networking between organisations and individuals who are committed or want to be committed in the socio-educational sector and who are willing to implement participative methodologies and experiment innovative solutions to social issues.

The association "Le Barbe della Gioconda" has been legally established in 2009 for the promotion of Ludopedagogy, as recognized by the Centre for Training and Investigation “La Mancha” (www.mancha.org.uy), that is the founder of the non formal education method of Ludopedagogy.
"Le Barbe della Gioconda" is part of the international network ReLaJo (Red Latinoamericana de Juego - "Latin América Network of Game"). Thanks to the Centre for Training and Investigation “La Mancha” and the international network ReLaJo, the association "Le Barbe della Gioconda" started to work, as informal group, since 2005 to promote Ludopedagogy in Italy and in other countries (Nicaragua, Brazil, Guatemala, Egypt).
Ludopedagogy is a non formal education and participative method used as a tool to strength the participation and the change of unequal power relationships. It has been developed by the Centre for Training and Investigation “La Mancha” to fight against Latin America dictatorships, summing the strategic element of "playing" to the experience of Freire's Popular Education. It has been imported from Latin America in Italy, with great success, because in Europe too is strategic to promote people participation and active citizenship. Through “the game” this method facilitates the educational work, by involving the participants and encouraging the opening towards a different attitude from the usual one. Moreover, it stimulates the curiosity and the necessity to recognize the “other”, to develop the willing to actively participate and to risk. The method of Ludopedagogy allows people to recognize the value of emotions, body and affectivity to better understand ourselves, the relationships and the reality. Based on the potentialities of playing as a metaphor and vehicle of knowledge, this educative method sums the individual and the collective experience, opening the possibilities to try and to develop different and unusual solutions to social issues in a protected space - the playing space.

To pursue these aims, the Association “Le Barbe della Gioconda” carry on the following activities: to organize seminars, conferences, pedagogical courses and trainings; to establish relations of collaboration with other Italian and foreign organizations, having local, national and international nature, with similar aims; to mutually exchange best practices and facilitate contacts among the organizations themselves; to set up a multi-country project to promote the power of playing in order to build a different kind of participation.

Since 2005, “Le Barbe della Gioconda” is working on the issue of Non formal Education, with the aim to rise awareness and train young and adult people to actively participate on the issues of democracy, sustainable development, human rights. The association works at local and national level (in Italy) and at European and international level (Russia, Egypt, Saharawi Refugees camps, Latin America). Actually, the association uses Ludopedagogy method to promote exchange of best practices and cooperation between organizations of different European countries committed to youth education and participation.

Costs

The participation fee for the School is 560 Euros (inclusive of training, lodging, food, insurance, taxes). The participation fee does not include travel and visa costs. If you get the inscription of another person, you can have a discount of 50 euros per new participant inscription, up to a maximum of 9 people (9x50= 450 euro discount).
