I.D.E.A. – Intercultural Dialogue for European Awareness

Training Course

30 March - 5 April 2016 | El Masnou, Barcelona, Spain

The project aims at providing participants from European organizations with specific tools based on art and creativity, and at promoting the values of European citizenship beyond Europe itself.
The project foresees an activity, a training course, which involves 24 participants from Spain, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Macedonia, Turkey UK and Serbia. As a main result, participants will acquire new specific competences based on art and creativity; moreover, the project will also impact the partner organizations, empowering them through their participants. In a long-term perspective, the project aims at raising awareness about a stronger inclusion in the European integration’s process. Aims & Objectives: • To reflect on the processes of intercultural dialogue in Europe and its current challenges. • To promote the exchange of best practices among youth organizations working with tools based on art and creativity. • To foster in participants the development of specific competences based on art and creativity, in order to improve theirs educational interventions. • To promote recognition of Non-Formal Education as a complementary approach to formal education. On the other hand we want to emphasize that the practical activities proposed (social theatre, street theatre, activist performance and clown) contain in themselves social values and meet the following specific objectives: • To develop individual values: the challenge that mean the different theatrical disciplines help us to develop the spirit of perseverance and self confidence, to improve self-esteem, to develop a sense of safety and risk, to discover our capabilities and our limits, to develop creativity. • To promote group values: the performing arts are team disciplines, where you learn that active participation, cooperation and group cohesion are essential to achieve a long-term objective. • To facilitate and develop the integration through education for diversity, solidarity and Intercultural Dialogue. Working methods: The planned activities will be based on the principles of Non-Formal Education. The training course is based on practical work: activities will include a very good overview and practical experience of social theatre, clown, street theatre and performative theatre, through individual work, working groups and collective group work. Each participant will end this project with ideas about how to use these tools in their future actions. A purpose for this TC is to proceed with already existing network members to follow-up plans, to exchange good practices and to prepare future quality projects. Selection criteria: Application contents will be the bases of the selection's procedure. We are looking for open mind people, ready to work theatrically and physically, and with a strong social commitment. No age limit.
