Seminar

26-30 April 2016 | Taormina(Sicily), Italy

International Seminar to bring together different actors of the Structured Dialogue to exchange good practices and develop a common strategy to integrate KA3 quality projects in the process of the SD at european, national, regional and local level.
The Italian National Youth Agency (Agenzia Nazionale per i Giovani) in cooperation with SALTO-YOUTH Participation Resource Centre are organising an international Seminar to bring together different actors of the Structured Dialogue (National and local Youth Councils, public authorities and youth policy makers, student councils, organizations involved in Structured Dialogue projects, etc.) to exchange good practices and develop a common strategy to integrate KA3 quality projects in the process of the Structured Dialogue at european, national, regional and local level. The Seminar will provide a unique opportunity to gather various actors from the youth field including young people and youth organisations with political representatives and decision makers to exchange ideas and proposals to contribute to better tailored youth policies in order to improve the situation of young people’life. As a first step, the seminar aims at mapping the existing practices of youth participation/youth democracy/structured dialogue at local/national/transnational level. As a second step, the seminar aims at developing a common strategy and define main priorities regarding the implementation of the SD by including innovate participatory quality projects under KA3 of the Erasmus + YiA Programme. During this international seminar, the participants involved in Structured Dialogue process will exchange ideas, knowledge, practices and experiences in terms of youth participation/youth democracy/structured dialogue projects at local/national/transnational level. The seminar will also explore ideas for projects aiming at improving young people’s understanding of how decision processes work, helping them to empower the young people to participate in the decision-making structures. It will also offer the opportunity for youth workers, youth leaders and representatives of municipalities responsible of youth policy to extent their knowledges to better understand the new forms of youth participation and use it in their work with young people. Participants will share experience, tools and methods for working together with all stakeholders( young people, policy-makers, experts, youth researchers…). Finally, the activity will offer a space to collect existing methods, examples and answers that support successful projects on structured dialogue and youth participation in decision-making process and develop new partnerships. The activity will be based on the principles and practice of non-formal education taking into account the participants’ needs, motivations and previous experiences as starting point of the programme. A diversity of working methods will be used for learning about structured dialogue process and projects: thinking together, brainstorming, creating new ideas, discussions, debates, simulations, etc. There will be space for regular feedback and evaluations.
