Tipping Point - Understanding and Tackling Extremism

Training Course

6-11 November 2016 | Sofia, Bulgaria

Training course for youth practitioners, working directly with young people who are vulnerable to religious or political radicalisation.
The course is open for youth workers, youth leaders and decision makers who wish to exchange ideas and learn how to tackle youth extremism (especially through Erasmus+ Youth projects). This training course will give participants a deeper understanding of the concept of extremism and equip them with tools to identify, and work with, those most at risk. It will focus on how intercultural dialogue in international youth work can be used to engage those who might otherwise turn to extremism. It will consist of workshops, lectures, group work and the sharing of experiences and challenges. Participants will have the opportunity to share best practice examples. Objectives: 1: Identifying and understanding the causes of extremism 2: Improve knowledge of the processes involved in radicalisation 3: Equip participants with the ability to identify those most at risk and tools to respond 4: To make participants more aware of opportunities under Erasmus+ to support their work with young people in this context 5: To provide opportunities to share good practice initiatives to challenge youth extremism Important: Please note, this course requires participants to complete preparatory tasks before the training, including providing an example of best practice within this topic. They will share findings with participants during the training. All participants must be committed to respond to questionnaire and studies of impact. Given the nature of the topic, participants must have a good knowledge of English
