The Pow(d)er of Non-Formal Education

Training Course

1-20 April 2021 | Greece

Improving the impact of NFE, through a process of identifying a concrete local need and expected impacts in the reality of participants, and support the design of a concrete tool to implement in their local realities after the training course.

Why this Training Course?

To stimulate the participants to feel and reflect on the power of non-formal education (NFE).

To base our educational approach on values.

To explore meanings, roles and complementary of different educational approaches (formal, non-formal, informal).

To reconsider our daily educational practices.

To understand the principles of activity design in NFE.

To develop an educational tool answering a local concrete need.

How it will be done?
The Powder of NFE’ is an exciting format which combines online with offline learning processes. Online moments support directly the individual and groups processes while developing Non-Formal Educational methodology, tailored towards your own educational interests and based upon your (professional) identified needs.

To have a profound impact, we need to go further than classical running of training courses, online or offline. The participants are encouraged to really build their own training and learning process, supported by a fine-tuned pedagogical programme and with a concrete offline material ‘tool kit’, which is sent by postal service previously to every participant.

The pedagogical process

A fundamental flow during the training is based upon:

Understanding: the daily local realities of participants, diving into similarities.

Identifying: a concrete topic connected to local realities of participants, and concrete expected impacts.

Connecting: needs identified and building working groups on similar needs.

Exploring: different topics to support the activity design process (sessions on impacts, key elements to keep in mind while building an educational process, analyse of educational methods, the crucial role of debriefing).

Reflecting: on the methods and its impacts, on the power and limits of NFE, on building methodology.

Designing:  an educational method/tool to implement in the reality of participants, which answer the local concrete need to be identified. This building will be supported by an offline toolbox: ‘The Powder Box’ (more info in the attached Info pack).

Participants should be at least 18 years old and should have a good level of English.
