SDGS and ME

Training Course

13-15 May 2021 | Online, Ireland

The aim of this seminar is to offer those working with young people an international learning experience, enabling them to develop their competencies in connecting local issues to global issues using the Sustainable Development Goals as a framework.

Within both the new Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps Programme, the topic of sustainability is a key priority within both programmes. This contact-making seminar will give the opportunity to organisations to understand both programmes, and how it can help organisations support the implementation of the SDG goals within their project

Objectives:

  • To explore issues affecting young people in local and global contexts
  • To gain an understanding of the implementation of the SDGs at the national/country level and how they are reflected globally
  • To connect the SDGs to personal, practice and policy levels when working with young people
  • To explore the impact of existing inequalities at a local and global level
  • To gain an understanding of global youth work and Development Education methodologies
  • To provide participants with an overview of opportunities within European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ programmes
  • To network and meet potential partners to develop projects within European programmes

This training supports voluntary as well as paid staff working with young people; including newcomers to the area. In light of the Covid-19 reality, this course will be delivered online and will explore the opportunities and challenges of youth mobility now and in the future. The training will look out how opportunities within the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps Programme can support active participation with young people through areas such as Solidarity and Participation Projects.

Training participants will need to have access to a desktop/laptop computer with a microphone and webcam as sessions will be highly interactive using non-formal methodologies. Participants will also be invited to connect with the trainers and other participants in advance of the event. More details will be shared.

Target group: The target group will be both youth workers or other organisations working with young people on the topic of global issues, sustainability, human rights education, and Global Citizenship Education within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This training is a collaboration between the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) and Léargas (the National Agency in Ireland).
