European Academy on Youth Work - Webinar 2: Recognizing larger Trends - Seeing Interconnections with Youth Work

E-learning

16 December 2021 | online, Slovenia

Would you like to take a moment to explore the concept of Innovation in youth work with colleagues from across Europe? In this webinar, we will look at trends in society and youth and explore how these trends influence and can be influenced by youth work.

We are excited to invite you to the second webinar of the pre-European Academy of Youth Work (EAYW) webinar series Learning in Times of Disruption and Change.

A few words of introduction...

The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic require youth workers and other professionals in the field of youth work to rethink and adapt their approaches and ways of working. In the EAYW, we want to support the professional development of youth workers and other professionals in youth work practice, policy and research, even in times of uncertainty, like the ones we are living today.

Learning in Times of Disruption and Change webinars are be 2-hour long dynamic online sessions where you will explore the concept of Innovation in your practice with other colleagues from different parts of Europe. During these sessions you can expect: short and inspiring inputs by experts; interesting conversations with colleagues from other countries; and getting to know innovative practices in the field. Besides, there will be optional body activities, in case you feel tired of facing a screen all day. (We know we do !).

About the 2nd webinar:

Recognizing larger Trends, Seeing Interconnections with Youth Work: Time: 16th December, 9.30 – 12.00 CET.

We'll be starting with some optional body, mind and soul - activities at 9.30; the programme of "Recognizing Larger Trends - Seeing Interconnections with Youth Work" will start at 10.00 CET.

During this webinar we will look at trends in society and youth. We’ll explore how these trends influence and can be influenced by youth work.

Our webinar guest is Mr. Peter Merry, who will be sharing his insights on the larger societal and youth-related trends that might be influencing the lives of young people, as well those working with young people in the field of youth work.

Peter is chief innovation officer at Ubiquity University, where he is overseeing learning and innovation for change-makers; combining learning and social innovation, informed by an integral perspective and game design. Peter is also developing immersive virtual reality possibilities. More information: https://petermerry.org/, https://www.ubiquityuniversity.org/

Moments of exchange among participants will allow to draw on the reflections of the first webinar, Peter Merry's presentation and the experiences of you and the other participants from the youth work community of practice, on questions such as:

  • How ready are we to zoom out and recognise these larger trends?
  • Most of the time,  we might not aware of these trends. What are the consequences of that?
  • How do we see youth work moving forward and responding to these trends?
  • What are the consequences of not responding to these trends?

The first 25 optional minutes are aimed at preparing ourselves for a good online learning moment by awakening our body, our senses and our mind. They may include gentle stretching exercises, meditation, movement or breathing practices.

Learning in Times of Disruption and Change are facilitated by Darko Markovic, Anita Silva and Laimonas Ragauskas.

We welcome all participants that are professionals (including volunteers!) in youth work or in a field related to it. Please register by filling in the attached "application form", in order to receive the link for the webinar.
