This online course guides learners through the process of creation of outdoor escape games based on cultural heritage. It contains tools and practical activities to design a game with regards to learning goals and specific target groups.

Why this Training Course?

If you are a youth worker or a practitioner in the field of culture, non-formal learning, youth work, looking for tools to gamify learning, this is for you. You will find tips and learning materials on using myths, legends and folklore as a source to the narrative of the game. You will find examples of puzzles and links to resources to design your game. The course features digital platforms to support you in setting up your game and learning. 

By the end of the course you can create an outdoor escape game based on myths and fairy-tales from your country, region or city. 

How long is the course?

In the Art Escape course you will get access to four learning modules, which will open one by one every week. Each week you will spend 2 - 3.5 hours of learning by yourself, and when joining online facilitated webinars.

What is the course structure? 

Module 1 contains an introduction to the world of education escape games. 

An online webinar with facilitators and other learners is organized once all learners enroll to the course. The session is 1,5 hours long.

Module 2 guides learners through the main features of any educational escape game outdoors and offers a template for game developers to start their game design process. 

Module 3 contains a template on designing a timeline and a story for the game. By the end of the module learners will be able to connect their learning goals and the storyline of the game.

Online meeting with facilitators (up to 30 minutes per developer) to support game design will be available to learners after completion of Module 3.

Module 4 introduces digital platforms to upload and run the game, and examples of puzzles and enigmas for the game, with links to online resources to help in the development process. 

An online webinar with all learners and facilitators of 1,5 hours concludes the course. 

Throughout the course learners have a chance to collaborate with other learners and exchange ideas. Facilitators are there to help with troubleshooting and giving feedback.
