Practice Peace

Training Course

3-8 February 2018 | Subotica (Tavankut), Serbia

What is discrimination and how can it be effectively countered? That is the guiding question of training which will be explored through the methods from the Theatre of the Oppressed.
What is discrimination and how can it be effectively countered? That is the guiding question of the two-stage training course Practice Peace. It offers an opportunity for youth workers, activists and multipliers to: Deepen an understanding of conflict resolution, discrimination and peace; Acquire educational tools how to work on and counter discrimination; Network and develop own ideas with participants from six different countries. The first stage of this training already took part in November 2017 in Krzyzowa, Poland and it consisted of a simulation game. The participants immersed themselves in a scenario from the Northern Ireland Conflict and took the role of real-life figures. They acquired an understanding of social, religious and political discrimination and worked on developing strategies how to counter discrimination effectively. In this second stage of the training, participants will get to know practical anti-discrimination methods from the Theater of the Oppressed and learn how to apply them in their individual work context. ATTENTION: Participation in the second stage of this training is possible without having taken part in the first stage of the training. However, 18 participants from the first training have already been selected to take part in the second training and therefore, we can offer it to 5 new participants to join this training (2 from Germany, 3 from Poland).
