Mobile youth work in rural territories: how to start?

A big part of Europe is covered with rural and remote territories. Sometimes it can be challenging to assure quality youth work non-formal learning and leisure time activities for young people living there. Mobile youth work is a form of youth work creating participation opportunities for young people in their living environment where youth centers do not exist and leisure time activities are limited. Mobile youth work can be implemented by a team of youth workers who come to small communities on agreed schedule (ex. once a week) and provide youth work services. Also mobile youth workers can support local networks of stakeholders (ex. NGO, library, community and others) who provide non-formal education and youth work in their remote territory. There are several ways how to provide mobile youth work with young people in rural territories. This will be your chance to explore and to exchange many different possibilities and practices and to find which is relevant for your reality. AIM: Activity aims to foster quality mobile youth work provision in rural territories by training youth workers and youth affairs specialists on initiating, advocating and involving relevant stakeholders in mobile service provision. OBJECTIVES: • To explore concept, principles and examples of mobile youth work provision in rural territories. • To provide participants with tools to analyze the need for mobile youth work in their local reality, map potential alias to promote and advocate this form of youth work. • To learn how to create local networks to implement mobile youth work in rural territories. • To explore how non-formal education can foster implementation of mobile youth work in remote and rural territories; • To provide space for participants to share their local realities and good practices working with young people in remote and rural territories; • To discover opportunities of Erasmus+ programme for implementation of mobile youth work in remote and rural territories. Profile of participants: - Youth affair specialists/youth workers from municipalities who carry out youth work in remote and rural territories; - Be available for the full duration of the course; - Be able to work in English. Participants will have to arrive on May 6 midday and depart on May 11 any time.
