International forum for youth workers and educators about body and movement based learning approaches.

INTRODUCTION

Youth workers, education experts, trainers, facilitators and teachers, Room of Fulfilled Dreams, Nomadways and Teatro Invisibile invites you to spend a creative and moving weekend in a beautiful rural area, and participate in an international forum devoted to body and movement based learning approaches and methods. This weekend event will take place from September 6th to 8th, 2019, near Kazdanga, in Latvia, gathering over 50 participants from all Europe. 

The forum is a part of a strategic partnership project called Embodied Change which was designed with a goal to elaborate body and movement based learning methods for boosting young people’s participation and entrepreneurial mindset. Main theme uniting all the activities of the project is embodied learning - its main concepts, principles, approaches and various methods, viewing the physical body as a domain of learning and change.

During the event we will share outcomes of this project and offer diverse movement workshops in order to provide a practical insight into what embodied learning means. You will receive also a brand new embodied learning toolkit. Besides, you will have a chance to network, gain new ideas and methods, as well as find new perspectives how to look at yourself and importance of body in educational context. 

PARTICIPANTS' PROFILE

The main target group of this event are youth workers, educators, counsellors and non-formal learning facilitators who are involved in a work with young people on a regular basis and are residents of one of the Programme countries of Erasmus+ programme.

Participants aren't required to have a previous experience in body and movement based learning. The event will be the most suitable for those who would like to improve their knowledge about body and movement based learning approaches and methods, gain new ideas for their work, enrich their toolbox, and spend time in active and more still movement sessions that would allow participants also to work on their professional and personal development, improve their abilities to facilitate group and individual learning process and become more creative at their educational work.

OBJECTIVES

- To develop competences of the participants to use body and movement based learning approaches in order to empower young people and foster their active participation, civic engagement, initiative and entrepreneurial attitudes and skills.

- To improve participants' facilitation skills, presence and enrich their educational toolbox.

- To offer space and support for networking, sharing experience and best practices, and developing new international cooperations.

METHODS

During the event participants will have a chance to work with facilitators from different European countries who will introduce their educational approach and methods. Workshops will include elements from performance arts, dance, contact improvisation, theatre improvisation, voice work, meditation, creative writing and other disciplines, exploring how these practices can be connected with development of competences such as initiative, entrepreneurship, social and civic skills. Entire process will be based on principles and values of non-formal education and experiential learning. Participants will have a chance to work alone, in pairs and in groups.

Participation fee

There is no participation fee.

Accommodation and food

The accommodation and meals will be provided during the event and are free of charge for the participants.

Travel reimbursement

Participants must fully cover their own travel costs. Expenses related to travel and travel insurance won't be covered.
