FACES - Facilitation Skills

Training Course

4-12 November 2020 | Beja, Portugal

TC FACE - Facilitation Skills will host 27 participants will take place in Beja (Portugal), from 4 to 12 of November 2020, aiming to training facilitators with news skills, improve youth work quality and use new tools for the success of Facilitation

FACE - Facilitation Skills is a Training Course for Youth workers on Facilitation in Youth groups. The TC proposes methods and exercises to boost some of the Skills that a Facilitator should have. It is a very practical learning with a session about designing a workshop and perfoming it.

A good facilitator can make the difference in the approach to a youth group (especially with delicate target groups like migrants, youngsters with educational difficulties, disabilities) and through this TC we want to give the facilitators of our partner organisations a space to reflect on their role and competences and provide them with the necessary tools and methods for their professional development. The role of the facilitator is basically connected with learning, communication, intercultural issues, feedback, and workshop design skills: in these areas he/she must be competent and aware. In our opinion a good facilitator should be first of all aware of his/her own learning styles and recognize these in his/her learning process.

In this TC we want to focus on the role of the facilitator in communications and relationships so as to prevent possible conflicts and violence (verbal and physical) and on new skills like public speaking (useful in social life and in job market).

Participants in the last part of the training will benefit from a session where they will design and perform a workshop. They can count on the trainers’ support and feedback during the TC and on their mentoring for 1 month after the TC, giving them the opportunity to develop quality workshops as output of the TC.

Solution: Solidarity & Inclusion is an NGO based in Paris developing innovative actions to promote social cohesion
through non formal education. The objective of the association is to boost social inclusion among younger adults by proposing several kinds of activities allowing to foster mutual acceptance, stimulate human interests by offering cross-cutting activities, design educational programs to open minds and strengthen fair dynamics between generations.
Solution focuses on the following areas: Integration of migrants in the society; Gender equality; Entrepreneurship; Intergenerational dialogue; Active citizenship; Integration on the labor market; Promotion of intercultural dialogue and Ecological awareness.
Solution operates in a multicultural and socially complex environment: in the east of Paris, there are more than 70
different ethnic communities whose younger adults may face economic difficulties, as well as social and labor exclusion.
This is the reason why Solution develops its activities in order to provide alternative answers to tackle such social issues.
